The Wolfratshauser Hütte

This cabin is one of our favourites on the Grubigstein, both in summer and in winter.

The Wolfratshauser just expresses cosiness and has as an eye-catcher: a sunny terrace with a breathtaking view of the Zugspitze and the villages Lermoos, Ehrwald and Biberwier.

On the left photo you can see a part of the terrace with a view of the Zugspitze.

What’s really striking is the silence and the fresh mountain air.

Winter

In the winter you can’t always access this cabin, it depends on the snowfall.

There is no ski run to the cabin, but a ski route. This is a path of approximately 3 metres wide that only is about 50 centimetres wide at the last 300 metres.

But this shouldn’t have to scare you off, even for not so experienced skiers or snowboarders it can be done if you let yourself slide carefully.

Summer

In the summer you can access the Wolfrathauser via different footpaths.

A must is the new höhenpanoramapath of the Grubigalm towards the Wolfrathausercabin.

Also a must for the spring and the summer is the Gartnerpath. Before this you follow the Wolfratshauserhütte and the signs towards Gartnertal (nr 13).

Then you begin a descent towards Gartneralm. It’s a beautiful walk between the wild mountain flowers and past mountain rivers.

Here I took dozens of photos and slides of the beautiful flowers and sceneries.

Here you can find beautiful gentians.

The Gartnertal lies between the Grubigstein and the Pleisspitze (2225m).

There’s also a footpath to the Sommerbergjochle.
