The Grübighutte 2050metres
This is the cabin that is highest up on the Grübigstein. Because of this, you get a beautiful view of the Zugspitze (2962m), Sonnenspitze (2412m) and the Daniel (2343m), which can be seen on the picture.
This cabin has been completely restored and has the most modern comfort. But unfortunately that’s also the reason why it’s lost a bit of its charm (it used to be a real mountain cabin with small rooms and a small bar) But the beautiful view remains!
Now there’s a self-service restaurant with a very extensive kitchen. There’s a menu of the day and choice of many other menus.
Winter
In the winter this is a popular halting place for skiers and snowboarders. There even is a bar made out of snow right in front of the cabin. During the high season it is best you go and eat just before or just after midday. Because it tends to get busy during midday and you might have to look for a place to sit. If there’s not too much wind, the terrace is also a good alternative to enjoy your lunch. To eat your dinner in the sun, with a breathtaking view which you can enjoy, is not something you get to do everyday.
Summer
A long walk to this cabin is rewarded by the amazing view of the valley. For those who’ve still got some energy left can pursue the walk towards the summit of the Grübigstein I did this as a 14 year-old and I can assure you, the last climb is the most difficult one
Together with my father we conquered the Grubigstein and enjoyed the view at the cross! Unforgetable! |
